I feel that issues facing biodiversity do impact cultural diversity. As we have learned biodiversity greatly contributes to many areas of a country's, like its economy and natural resources available. There is a great amount of biodiversity on our planet and people have become one with the part there are from. People can move from country to country or state to state, but one thing I have noticed is that when it comes to the bottom line, there truly is no place like home. Of course where a person comes from molds them and the areas biodiversity contributes to the culture of an area. Some people are more connected with their roots and origins than others. As time has gone by the destruction of bio-diversities has impacted culture. When people move they adapt to their new environment. Little by little bits and pieces of their origins will disappear. When an area is destroyed people feel as if their home has been violated and of course they would if the land shaped them to be who they are. Many languages and cultures have vanished from this kind of destruction. I believe that governments should actively involved in protecting cultural diversity. Languages and cultures all tell different stories and we should try to preserve our history on this planet. They are words of wisdom that have been passed down from generations to generations. Change is good, but we must not forget where we came from. And if possible we must protect it so that future generations can enjoy both biodiversity and cultural diversity.

I just finished creating a report on the status of education in India which you will find on my Political and Economics page. I invite you to make comments on this report.
Globalization is a process in which humans from all over the world have interacted and is powered by trade. It is how we as a community have accomplished so much in all areas of life. Globalization why I am able to be typing this assignment on this computer at this moment and it is the reason for many good and bad things that are happening in our world. There are many people that have benefited from globalization and there are many who have not. Everyone today is in some way affected by this process of interaction. Globalization can be beneficial for developing countries, but not that is not always the result. For example a positive example of globalization in India can be the many companies and organizations that have moved into India that offer new jobs. These new jobs bring opportunity for employment of both sexes which can lead to promotion of equality between both sexes. This then brings more opportunities for women who would have otherwise have lived much less opportunistic lives. Unfortunately this also brings some negative effects. These women are sometimes only able to work low paying jobs that expose them to harmful chemicals or are in dangerous locations. These women then suffer in the face of globalization. Another example of globalization in India a McDonalds in India. McDonalds can be enjoyed by Indians and they do not have to travel faraway to enjoy it. A last example of globalization in India can be the impact globalization has had on education in India. Education is necessary for development and so countries have had to invest into their countries education. In India this has led to more students attending schools and developing skills. This has been a positive effect of globalization in India. As we can see there are both pros and cons to globalization. India has benefitted quite well from globalization there has been an increase in the literacy rate, more children attend school, women have more power and opportunities than they used to and the Indian economy has been on the rise. However with all these great things there are negative effects. Some women are put into low wage jobs that put them in harm’s way, some children are exposed to those harsh environments and chemicals because they have to tag along with their mothers, and the American culture is invading. Now as the videos stated there is much debate as to whether globalization is good or bad for us. However I see it as an opportunity to use all the positive things we have accomplished in history and push towards a better future. We have the power and ability to, right now, at this moment to make a change for the better. We have the power to use globalization for good.

Retrieved October 28, 2015, from http://www.impowr.org/journal/impact-globalization-women-workers-india For as long as humans have been on the earth men and women have played certain roles. In early times men were the hunters and women were the gatherers. As time went on men became the explorers and women were seen as property. Men were the bread-winners and women were house wives. It seems that throughout history men have always had more “power” than women. There are many theories as to how these gender roles came to be. Looking at India’s history and present day life can give us an idea of the roles both genders play in society.
Well begin by looking at women’s role in India. In many of the religions surrounding the Indian culture women are seen as goddesses or child bearers of gods. Women however have always had less of a say in what happens in their life or environment. Many women in India today are given little opportunity to be the best they can be. Many women have to live with domestic abuse, sexual abuse, prostitution, a lack of education and sometimes are forced into marriages for advantage. The majority of men in India believe that household & child care activities such as changing diapers, preparing food and entertaining a child are a responsibility of women. Many times at weddings the groom and families ask for healthy sons instead of healthy children from the bride. It seems that even before they are born women are being surprised. Looking at men now we can see that they have always had more “power”. Men have typically had leader positions and the women had to obey the men. Men were the bread-winners and when married they would attain the land the women’s family offered. Men had to be masculine and follow the gender norms we as a society placed on men. Gender norms like men are strong, men can’t cry, men can’t talk about their feelings, etc. These gender roles can lead to much stress and danger in a man. Being taught that men can’t demonstrate feelings and has to keep to himself can lead to self-harm paths. Taking a look at both women and men in India now it seems that they follow much of what we consider in the Western hemisphere “old-fashioned”. Today in some countries women can be leaders, women can have a voice, women can cast a vote, and so much more. Men can show their emotions, talk about things, men doesn’t necessarily be the only source of income, and so much more. As we can see however India seems to not be as advanced when it comes to the roles men and women play in society. Men still have more of a say in things and women are still considered for child bearing purposes. In places where both men and women are better educated both sexes think that each sex deserves just as much respect as the other. Although there has been some improvements in some parts of India in these societal roles. The majority of the country still has some work to do. A lot of this can be traced back to the man; men seem to fear that if women become equals they will have less to offer. Men fear that women can become just as powerful as the man. This idea that men have and the many other factors like education, location, and caste play a huge role in societal roles. I think India still has ways to go when it comes to the societal roles men and women play in society. There are other countries who follow this idea that men have more power than women not just India. We even see it here in the United Sates sometimes, but it is more prominent in areas that have lower opportunities for education. I think that as a whole we have come a long way, but just because these roles have bettered in some places doesn’t mean we can ignore the places where change is still needed. Resources
This website will be a virtual look at the country of India. I appreciate the time you have taken to look at this website and encourage you to leave comments or suggestions on how I can make this website the best it could be.
